Breakfast For Lunch

I don’t get sick very often–okay, really never–but sometimes you just wanna stay home from work, you know? I hate staying home for no reason, I don’t believe in that mental health day stuff that the women I work with talk about, so if I happen to wake up with a headache then I jump on it as a chance to stay home. Hey, why not right?

I don’t get headaches much at all but I admit that I’m not used to them, so they can turn me into a sissy sometimes. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I tend to wake up with them if I’m gonna get them–my wife says it’s probably because I slept on my neck or shoulders funny, or was grinding my teeth. Maybe so, but personally I’ve noticed that I am more likely to get them if I stay up super late then get up early, like for work. My wife and I actually work for the same company so we only have one car–there’s never been a need for a second one. I know some people will sometimes go to work then leave early if they don’t feel well but I don’t have that option so if my wife or I wake up sick or with a headache, then we stay home, period.

Anyway, that’s what happened this morning. I stayed up until 3:30am last night browsing the internet and was supposed to get up at 6am for work but I just could not do it. So I overslept and my wife, who gets up at 5:30am most days, shook me awake at 6:45am saying that I had to hurry up and get out of bed. But right away I felt the hard squeeze of a headache around my skull and told her I couldn’t do it, and she should go on without me.  I think it was allergies or something.  I don’t know.  I wanted to take some Migralex sinus headache relief and grabbed an ice pack and laid down on the couch, sipping cold coffee while I held that ice pack to my head.

I felt almost normal by 10am and by noon, after eating a lunch of greasy scrambled eggs and bacon, I felt normal and my headache was gone. But hey, we only have one car and there’s no way for me to get work without one so I just spent the rest of the day playing video games. Good day all around, I would say!
